The previous attempt has terminated automatically and a new one (started without my intervention) succeded

. Took hours of attempts until it succeeded once.

    Did you guys change anything?

Why has it failed multiple times before it has succeeded?

    Please advise.

    Thanks

Initialization stucked on mdadm wait after RAID assemble. The cause of this is a EBS or instance performance.

You're using RAID10, which does mirroring and striping. Each disk has IOPS 350 which can give a maximum speed 87.5 MiB/s, while EBS throughput limit is 160MiB/s. So by just increasing IOPS it's possible to get the same performance as with striping. Mirroring doesn't makes a lot of sense, cause AWS does the same on their side.

So you can switch from RAID to a single EBS with higher IOPS rate.

Due to the coming shopping season its hard for me to make this change now
(switching back to non raid). Is there anything can do to remove the risk
the servers/volumes wont start with the current config ?
Was the reason it failed a timeout issue? Is it adjustable?

    Thanks again , Nir

You can increase HostUp timeout on Advanced tab of farm role settings.
