Do you still have problems with this?

I just tried it with 3.9.2 without any issues:

    1. Added Percona/Debian role to farm
    2. Launched farm
    3. mysqladmin -u root -h 127.0.0.1 password NEWPASSWORD
    4. create server snapshot + role
    5. Added new role to farm
    6. Launched farm

    Regards,
    Daniele

No, I used "Quick Start" in Scalr and picked the Percona Role.

I can try to reproduce your issue if you give me a detailed step-by-step on how you are preparing yours. What exact images your use and what you install/configure before you make the bundle.

    Regards,
    Daniele

    1. We have a base image we start from (role id 71866). This is generated from Scalr Role Builder with Ubuntu 14.04, 64bit, hvm image. Percona & Memcache are selected.
    2. We launch that base image in our role creation farm (id 11093). We configure the image using puppet, which includes setting the mysql root password. A new role snapshot is then taken (default size (8gb), ssd).
    3. We launch the new role (role id 77180) in another farm (id 11159),where it fails to start.

I strongly suspect its either that you didn't test the hvm image. Alternatively it could be an issue with our base image, however, then presumably it wouldn't have launched successfully in the role config farm.

Percona initialization doesn't depend on virtualization type. The most likely cause is image reconfiguration with Puppet. To investigate this we need a running server on farm 11159

    Patrick,

The error i've seen on this server is an internal TImeoutError in Scalarizr and unrelated to Percona initialization. Server was overloaded during init, and Scalarizr hit 30 seconds timeout writing to a local SQLite database. I've restarted this server and replacement was able to initialize. You currently have a running Percona.

You're using t2.micro, which seems too petite for a number of services and scripts it's hosting.

    Regards,
    Marat

Thanks for looking into it. I've increase the ec2 size and seems to be working.
